Every budget tells a story about what an organization values. At the Glenview Public Library, our budget is more than a financial document; it guides how we serve our community today and plan for the future.
While the Library Board begins formal budget discussions each summer, planning takes place throughout the year. Staff continually evaluate library services, listen to community feedback, and identify opportunities to better serve Glenview, ensuring every public dollar is invested thoughtfully and responsibly.
This year’s budget discussions will begin at the Library Board meeting on August 20, with additional public discussions in September and October before the budget is formally adopted. All Library Board meetings are held at the Glenview Public Library and are open to the public. Meeting dates and agendas are available at glenviewpl.org/board-meeting-information.
As a municipal library, our budgeting process also involves the Village Board. After the Library Board approves the annual budget, it requests that the Village Board levy the property tax needed to fund it. This happens every year at the third budget workshop of the Village Board of Trustees.
Every step of our budgeting process happens in public, giving residents the opportunity to attend meetings, ask questions, and see how decisions are made.

highlight key discussions, and share how the budget evolves.
