Frequently Asked Questions

If you reside (or own property) in incorporated Glenview, you can activate your library card by visiting the Circulation Desk and presenting a valid Illinois state photo ID or a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card with your current address.  If your photo ID is not current, please additionally provide one of the following: utility bill, bank statement, Illinois motor vehicle or voter registration cards.  

Your library card is valid for 3 years. 

Children under 16 need to be present with a parent/guardian.

You can register for a temporary library card online in order to place holds and access our Digital Library. To register for a temporary library card, click here.

To complete the process and access your card’s full benefits, visit the Circulation Desk and provide a valid Illinois State photo ID or a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card with your current address.  

If you prefer to complete the registration process electronically and receive your library card(s) by mail, please contact Tammy Tomasello, (847) 729-7500 x2217. 

On the glenviewpl.org homepage in the top right, click Log In / My Account.

• Click Log In / Register.
• Enter in your barcode (14 digit number on the back of your library card) and password.  
• The site will prompt you to register an account.

If you don't know your password, use the "Forgot your Password?" link on the Login page. Click the link, enter your library card number (barcode), and then click Send. You’ll receive an email with instructions on how to change your password. To use this feature, you need to have email address associated with your account.  If you don't have an email address associated with your account, contact the Library at 847.729.7500 to reset your password. 

If you don't remember your username:
Log in with your library card number or barcode. When you’ve logged in successfully, your username appears at the top right of the page. 

If you can’t remember your password:
Use the "Forgot your Password?" link on the Login page. Click the link, enter your library card number (barcode), and then click Send. You’ll receive an email with instructions on how to change your password. To use this feature, you need to have email address associated with your account.  If you don't have an email address associated with your account, contact the Library to reset your password.
