Court Access in the Library

The Glenview Public Library has partnered with the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office, the Chicago Bar Foundation, and the Illinois Supreme Court’s Commission on Access to Justice to help people more easily access legal information and assistance at their local public library.

GPL is one of several public libraries across the state establishing services to assist with navigating the legal system and to reduce barriers to court access.

Assistance & Information Available at the Library:

  • Space and equipment to attend remote court appearances online
  • Assistance with how to electronically file (e-file) court documents
  • Support in identifying necessary court forms and how to fill them out
  • Resources to find free or low-cost legal help
  • Information about court rules, terms, and procedures
  • Information about how to ask for court support services such as fee waivers, interpreters, and reasonable accommodations for a disability

To schedule a one-on-one appointment with library staff for court access assistance, use our Book-a-Librarian request form.

Keep in mind: GPL staff members cannot provide you with legal advice. If you are looking for legal advice, please contact an attorney. We can help you to identify referral resources.
