With the first phase of the Library’s parking garage waterproofing project nearly complete, the second phase is scheduled to begin on October 29.
After approximately 15 years, the existing membrane beneath the Library's west entrance has deteriorated, allowing water to leak into the parking garage and causing damage to the building. To make these repairs, crews must remove the existing concrete, install a new waterproofing membrane, and replace the concrete.
The project is expected to last through the end of November. During construction, there may be temporary impacts to the west entrance, parking lot, and parking garage. Work will also create noise, dust, and vibrations, especially during concrete demolition.
To avoid the greatest disruption, patrons may wish to visit after construction ends for the day, around 3 PM, or use the Drive-Up Window to pick up and return materials.
Because this is an exterior project, dates may change due to weather conditions. Please check our website and follow us on social media for updates.
Phase 1: September 21–October 27
Dates are subject to change.
- Bike racks and benches near the west entrance are removed. Bike racks are available near the east entrance.
- A construction barrier is installed around the south portion of the project area.
- The sidewalk in front of the Friends Used Bookstore leading toward Glenview Road is closed.
- Significant noise, dust, and vibrations are expected, particularly during concrete demolition.
