At Glenview Public Library, we know that a library is more than a place to find books and information. It's a place where people connect, discover new interests, and build community. That's why we've reimagined a few of our spaces to better support the various ways people use the Library. And we're happy to report that our community is responding by using the Library more than ever before!
Our updated children's play area is bustling with children exploring, discovering, and learning through play. Our refreshed lobby offers comfortable seating and convenient self-service café options through our partnership with a local coffee shop, the Glenview Grind. On the second floor, we've made our collections easier to explore and added seven new study rooms, providing more opportunities for people to work, study, and collaborate.
The response has been exciting. Library visits are up 30% year to date, and study room usage increased 65% in the first two months following the opening of our new study rooms.
One of my favorite things about walking through the Library is seeing people of all ages and backgrounds using and enjoying the space in their own ways, whether studying, spending time as a family, or relaxing with a newspaper. To me, that's a wonderful reflection of the power of libraries to bring people together. Even when we're doing different things, sharing the Library's space reminds us that we're part of something bigger- a community.
If you haven't been in to see our updated spaces, I invite you to stop by and experience your Library in a new way!
