Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is observed annually in May due to legislative action, which drew significance from two key dates: May 7, 1843, marking the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to the United States, and May 10, 1869 (Golden Spike Day), which acknowledges the crucial role of Chinese laborers in the construction of the first transcontinental railroad.

Also knows as AAPI Month, it’s a celebration that highlights the rich history, diverse cultures, and significant impact of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders on the United States.
