Youth Computer Volunteers (Grades 6-12)
If interested in becoming a Computer Volunteer, please check "Computer Gaming Help" under Assignment Preference on your Youth In-Person Volunteer Application.
Public computer use in the Youth Services department can be very high when school is not in session and the Computer Volunteer will be a great help to our librarians by helping children who want to use our computers. Shifts will be 2 hours at a time and duties will include:
- Assisting kids playing games on the library's desktop computers.
- Walking through tutorials on how to play games (like Minecraft and Roblox) on the desktop computer, if needed.
- Recommending games and websites for kids from list created by GPL staff.
Computer Volunteers should already have a basic knowledge of how to play the popular games Roblox and Minecraft on desktop computers. Once your Volunteer application has been accepted, you must attend one short training session in order to sign up for a Computer Volunteer shift on VicNet.
