Purpose
The Glenview Public Library provides borrowing privileges to residents and property owners in the Glenview area in accordance with the Illinois Local Library Act (75 ILSC 5/).
Policy
- The following groups are eligible for full privilege resident library cards at no cost:
- Individuals who live or own or lease property within incorporated Glenview.
- Students (K-12) whose households fall at or below the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Income Eligibility Guidelines living outside incorporated Glenview in an area where the Glenview Public Library is the closest library to the student’s principal residence.
- United States Veterans who are exempt from paying property taxes living outside incorporated Glenview in an area where the Glenview Public Library is the closest library to the individual’s principal residence.
- Businesses located within incorporated Glenview.
- Schools located within incorporated Glenview.
- The following groups are eligible for full privilege non-resident library cards for a fee:
- Individuals living outside incorporated Glenview in an area where the Glenview Public Library is the closest library to the individual’s principal residence.
- Businesses outside incorporated Glenview in an area where the Glenview Public Library is the closest library to the business’s primary location.
- The following groups are eligible for limited privilege non-resident library cards at no cost:
- Employees of the Glenview Public Library and Glenview Park District.
Guidelines
- The Library will require proof of residency, property ownership or lease to obtain borrowing privileges.
- The Library will charge a nonresident fee equal to the cost paid by residents of incorporated Glenview, using the tax bill method established by the Illinois State Library.
- Full privilege resident library cards will expire after three years.
- Full privilege nonresident cards and limited privilege library cards will expire after one year.
- Limited privilege cards cannot be used at other libraries and expire after three years.
