Voting by Mail: What has Changed?
Voters planning to vote by mail should be aware of a recent USPS postmark policy change that could affect the timely counting of ballots. Because postmarks now reflect when mail is processed — not when it is dropped off — ballots mailed close to Election Day could be postmarked late and rejected. Cook County Clerk Monica Gordon is encouraging suburban voters to return mail ballots early, request a postmark at a post office, or use an official ballot drop box. Early Voting
Glenview Village Hall, 2500 E. Lake Avenue, serves as an early voting location. It is NOT a polling place on election day.
Voting on Election Day
Polls open at 6 AM and close at 7 PM statewide.
Registered suburban Cook County voters can only vote in their home precinct on Election Day. Find your polling place here.
Residents who are not registered may register and cast a ballot on Election Day thanks to same-day registration and voting. Those who wish to register on Election Day must present two qualifying forms of ID.
Voters can bring newspaper endorsements, printouts, sample ballots, and smart phones to the voting booth. However, you may not take a selfie in the voting booth or photograph your marked ballot; it is illegal in Illinois.
