Crafting with the Family

Crafting as a family is a wonderful way to unleash creativity and create lasting memories together. Whether you are making homemade decorations, personalized gifts, or simply enjoying a fun DIY project, crafting gives an opportunity to every family member, regardless of age, to contribute and learn new skills. It is a relaxing, screen-free activity that fosters collaboration, patience, and the joy of seeing ideas come to life.

There are many developmental benefits behind all the paper, paint, fabric, and yarn. Craft projects help children to develop fine motor skills, enhance problem solving skills and concentration, boost confidence and promote social skills.

Throughout the year, the GPL offers many diverse types of crafting opportunities through our youth, teen, and adult programs and extensive print resources. In addition, our digital library, opens a new window provides you access to thousands of online art and craft classes through CreativeBug, opens a new window. It offers video classes related to many types of craft projects for all ages and abilities. Hobbies & Crafts Source, opens a new window is a DIY database of full-text hobby and craft magazines, hobby profiles, recipes and videos to inspire creativity and nurture extra-curricular interests.

So, gather your supplies, roll up your sleeves, and start crafting – it’s more than just a hobby, it’s a chance to connect, explore, and create with the ones you love.
