Policy Change Puts Library Cards in the Hands of All Kids

Kids Living in Unincorporated Glenview Now Eligible for a Library Card at No Cost

The Glenview Public Library Board of Trustees recently adopted a resolution to provide library cards at no cost to children living in unincorporated Glenview, within Glenbrook School District 225, or where GPL is the nearest library to their residence. This policy change is in response to the expansion of Illinois' Cards for Kids Act, allowing libraries to waive non-resident fees for anyone under 18, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Putting library cards in the hands of all kids supports the Library's mission to serve our community by providing access to information and resources. "We are excited to give every child in our community a chance to benefit from all that the Library offers, from homework help to literacy programs," stated Ruth Rosenblum, President of the Glenview Public Library Board of Trustees.

How does my child get a library card?

  • Visit the Library's Circulation Desk.
  • Children under 16 need to be present with a parent/guardian.
  • Present a valid Illinois state photo ID with current address.
