Letter from the Library Director

As we approach the end of 2024, I am proud to share the Library's progress on our current strategic plan goals. Over the past three years, our team has achieved significant improvements across nearly every performance indicator we track. You can find our annual reports detailing our progress at glenviewpl.org/strategic-plan.

With the close of our current plan, we've developed our next strategic plan to guide us from 2025 through 2027. The insights gathered from community and staff surveys have helped shape the focus areas and goals that will inform our work in the years ahead.

Our mission to foster a more connected, informed, and engaged community by making the power of knowledge, information, and discovery accessible to all remains at the core of everything we do. Beginning in 2025, we will focus on the following goals:

  • Identify and reduce barriers for non-users and new residents
  • Maximize existing resources to better serve patrons
  • Expand opportunities for professional development and growth
  • Increase opportunities for people of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds to build community
  • Foster a sense of belonging and support for all people
  • Enhance interdepartmental collaboration and trust
  • Provide tools to help navigate the rapidly changing landscape of technology and information
  • Raise awareness of community resources
  • Improve communication to keep staff informed and aligned

You can view our full strategic plan at glenviewpl.org/strategic-plan. I'm excited to see how these goals will transform the Library and deepen our community impact in the years ahead.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Lindsey Dorfman, Library Director
