Letter from the Library Director

With the increase of stress and anxiety in our modern lives, the importance of mental health and well-being has never been more clear. Public libraries across the country are committed to supporting wellness in their communities through informative programs, helpful resources, and engaging initiatives, and the Glenview Public Library is no different. This quarter, I am particularly proud to highlight our team's efforts to focus on mental well-being through carefully curated programs and resources.

Our offerings include a wide range of programs and workshops designed to address different aspects of mental health. These include sessions on recognizing and coping with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), practicing qigong and meditation, and understanding Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

We are focusing on nurturing the mental well-being of our young community members through creative and mindfulness-based activities. Programs include crafting fidget toys and exploring mindfulness techniques together with adults.

Our library also serves as a hub for community engagement and support, with events such as the Community Mental Health Fair and workshops on collaborating with schools to support children's mental health needs.

In addition to our programs, the Glenview Public Library provides a range of resources and a welcoming environment for everyone, making our library a place where individuals can find information, relax, and participate in activities that promote mental well-being.

By offering these services and resources, we aim to create a supportive community where everyone feels valued and understood, fostering both mental health and overall wellness. For more information about our programs, please visit our website or continue reading this edition of Spark to learn more. Together, we can build a healthier, more connected community.
