Letter from the Library Director

As we enter a new year, I'd like to reflect on all we accomplished at the Glenview Public Library in 2023. Last year was great for the Library as we made significant strides in our strategic focus areas to enhance engagement, visibility, and access to library services. Our efforts to better serve you, our valued community, have been successful, and for that, we are grateful.

One of our significant achievements in 2023 was the launch of our new website. Designed with your needs in mind, it features more intelligent search capabilities and improved browsing functions, which contributed to an 8% increase in checkouts of physical and digital items compared to the previous year. Additionally, collaborations with local school districts to integrate library card sign-ups into the school registration process have resulted in over 3,000 new library cards issued to children in our community. Finally, we supported the Glenview History Center in creating a strategic plan, cataloging its collections, and updating its IT equipment. We're proud of our work to help keep our community's history accessible for generations to come. You can read more about our talented team's accomplishments in 2023 at glenviewpl.org/strategic-plan.

In 2024, the final year of our strategic plan, we're excited to begin several projects to improve key areas of the Library, including the addition of more study rooms, a dynamic play area in the Youth Services Department, upgraded vending machines, and a café experience in the lobby. You can also anticipate a new mobile app making Library use more convenient and other improvements aimed at enriching your library experience. We're inspired by how much our community enjoys the Library and excited to work to serve you better in the coming year. Thank you for your support.
