Audiobooks 101

Have you ever thought that you just don’t have enough time to read? Or maybe you’ve finished that podcast you’ve been listening to and can’t find another good show. Perhaps you’ve thought about changing up your commute, or you have a big road trip coming up. You can even listen to a book while doing chores or exercising!  Audiobooks are a great way to experience new or familiar stories, with talented narrators bringing characters to life.

GPL offers audiobooks in a variety of ways. You can check out a book on CD or a Playaway (a device that contains an audiobook), or access our digital collections on Libby, opens a new window or Hoopla, opens a new window on your phone, tablet, or computer. Digital audiobooks have the added benefit of having adjustable speed settings - try listening to a book at 1.15 or 1.2x speed!
