Part-Time Security Monitor

The Glenview Public Library is looking for a part – time Security Monitor to maintain order, and ensure a safe environment for library patrons. Responsibilities include supervision of public areas (interior and exterior). May be responsible for securing the building and light maintenance, meeting room set-ups, etc.

Requirements: High school diploma required; some college and/or previous security experience preferred.

Schedule: 18 hours per week, to include late afternoon and evening as well as alternate weekend hours.

Hiring Range: $12.42-$15.97/hour (DOQ).

Youth Services - Librarian I – Youth Reader Advisory & Collections (Part-time)

The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Librarian I in the Youth Services Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting children through grade eight and their caregivers with reference, reader advisory, online catalog and computer resources. This position involves collection development and some programming responsibilities. Ideal candidates will be flexible, self-motivated and enthusiastic. Excellent communication and customer service skills and the ability to collaborate well with team members is required. Candidates should be proficient in the use of current technology and familiar with children’s literature.

Requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited institution. Experience working with youth in a public library setting preferred or relevant coursework as part of an MLS program.

Schedule: Approximately 25 hours per week; must be flexible to work days, evenings and weekend rotations.

Hiring Range: $20.91 – $23.90/hour (DOQ)

Youth Services - Librarian I – Youth Programming Specialist (Part-time)

The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Librarian I in the Youth Services Department (birth-8th grade and their caregivers.) This position will focus on programming responsibilities which includes developing the department program calendar, program planning, coordination and execution, writing and editing print and publicity materials and serving as the liaison for developing and maintaining community programming partnerships. The ideal candidate will be able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and be detailed oriented. Excellent communication, customer service skills and collaborative abilities are required. Candidates should be proficient in the use of current technology and have reliable transportation.

Requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited institution. Experience working with youth in a public library setting preferred or relevant coursework as part of an MLS program. Special events planning or programming experience with children highly desired.

Schedule: Approximately 25 hours per week; must be flexible to work days, evenings and weekends as required.
