Youth Services, Paraprofessional II (Part-time)

The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Paraprofessional II in the Youth Services Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting children through grade eight and their caregivers with finding materials, instructing patrons in the use of the online catalog and computer resources, handling event registrations and providing program support, filling displays, performing collection-related duties including selection and other tasks as assigned.

Applicants should enjoy working with children and the public, be proficient in the use of technology and able to collaborate and work well within a team environment. Position requires excellence in communication and customer service interactions with both patrons and staff. The ideal candidate will be flexible, self-motivated, possess an enthusiastic attitude and demonstrate familiarity with children's literature.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or an LTA certificate and a minimum of two years’ relevant library experience working with youth, preferably in a public library setting.

Schedule: Approximately 25 hours per week; schedule must be flexible to include days, evenings and a weekend rotation. Position includes some benefits.

Hiring Range: $20.15 to $22.67/hr. – DOQ

Reference Services, Paraprofessional I – Part Time

The Glenview Public Library seeks a part-time Paraprofessional I in the Reference Services Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: helping patrons with informational and directional questions, in person and over the phone; instructing patrons in the use of the online databases and catalog; assisting with computer classes and collection work; various other tasks as assigned.

Applicants should enjoy working with the public, be proficient in the use of technology, be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate familiarity with a nonfiction collection. Excellence in customer service in patron and staff interactions and strong communication skills are required.

Requirements: BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university, or an LTA certificate. A minimum of one year relevant library experience, preferably in a public library setting.

Schedule and Salary: Approximately 15/hours per week; must be flexible--mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekend rotation. Starting Salary is $15.27 to $17.18/hour - DOQ.

Circulation, Shelver I – Part-time

The Shelver I position is responsible for sorting and shelving all library materials as well as maintaining the orderliness of all library collections.

Requirements: Applicants must be fluent in oral and written English and must have a high school degree or equivalent.

Schedule and Salary: 18 hours per week; will include day, evening and weekend hours. Starting salary is $8.68 – $10.00.
