Unit Supervisor /Assistant Head of Circulation

The Glenview Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, and collaborative individual to assist in the supervision and management of the staff and services of the Circulation Department. The Assistant Head of Circulation reports to the Head of Circulation, serves as a member of the Circulation Team, and is responsible for scheduling, training, evaluating, and supervising the Circulation Clerical team. The Circulation Department consists of Circulation, interlibrary loan, shelving, Drive-Up window, and reception desk.

The Assistant Head of Circulation facilitates excellent customer service to all library patrons and staff and the Glenview community; must understand, utilize, and troubleshoot current technology; must be able to prioritize tasks, problem solve, and manage time effectively; assists in the development of the Department’s annual operating budget; evaluates and recommends procedures and guidelines to ensure efficiency and effectiveness; and effectively supervises and manages the Department in the absence of the Department Head. This position may serve as a liaison with CCS, the library’s ILS Consortium.

Requirements: Applicants must have knowledge of personal computers, including e-mail and Windows based operations, Integrated Library Systems, preferably Sirsi Dynix, as well as knowledge of other library applications relating to Circulation. Minimum of an Associate Degree or LTA preferred; two years’ public library experience required, one of which is supervisory.

Schedule: This is a full-time position, including daytime, evening, and weekend hours.

Hiring Range: $41,178 - $47,061. An excellent benefits package includes health insurance; IMRF pension plan; and paid vacation, sick days, and holidays.

Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer's responsibilities include managing the design and production process of print materials, signage, and digital collateral for all departments. The Graphic Designer will also assist with the design of the Library's website. Candidate must be able to conceptualize creatively and quickly and to see projects through from start to finish, including electronic file preparation. Portfolio should include a broad range of samples in multiple mediums, as well as demonstrating advanced skills in typography, color theory, message integration, educational objectives, and problem solving. Position requires a willingness to assist with departmental responsibilities as needed and work in a team environment.

Requirements: Proficiency with Mac computer and peripherals (printers, scanners, external hard drives); advanced skills in Adobe CC (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Bridge and Acrobat) and font management software (Extensis Suitcase Fusion 6); a solid understanding of HTML5 and CSS3, with an ability to create original and responsive web pages; knowledge of content management systems, such as Wordpress or Drupal; backend coding skills in PHP, MySQL, jQuery, JavaScript a plus; experience in creating and managing art/image archives; ability to assist in management of outside vendors; strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite; Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field; minimum five years progressive responsibilities.


Salary: $41,178 - $47,061 annually (DOQ)

Shelver I (Part-time)

The Shelver I position is responsible for sorting and shelving all library materials as well as maintaining the orderliness of all library collections.

Requirements: Applicants must be fluent in oral and written English and must have a high school degree or meet minimum age for the State of IL.

Schedule: 18 hours per week; includes day, night and weekend hours.

Hiring Range: $8.55 - $9.71/hour (DOQ)
