Technology Assistant

The IT Technology Assistant is responsible for deploying and supporting technology-related products within the Library, including the installation, configuration and support of hardware, and operating systems and application software on Library-owned public and staff computers; creating and maintaining user email and computer network accounts. This individual assists in supporting the Library VoIP phone system and related voicemail service; supports a variety of Library-provided audio-visual products in use by staff and patrons, diagnoses and resoles hardware and software issues, and provides technical support to end users.

Requirements: Position requires excellent communication, customer service, and computer support skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft programs and desktop operating systems, basic knowledge of server operating systems and Windows Domain Administration and a thorough understanding of workstations in a networked environment is required. Familiarity with Office 365, Google Apps and other cloud services in PC and mobile environments, plus Chrome, Mac and mobile operating systems.

Candidate must be able to read and write English and perform basic mathematical calculations, communicate and work harmoniously with others. Must be able to lift, bend, stoop and carry up to 50 lbs. and sit for extended periods of time while working at a computer.

Candidate must hold a High School Diploma or equivalent; Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification, or 2 years of documented employment in an IT support role with similar responsibilities is preferred.

Schedule: This is a part-time position for approximately 30 hours per week; must be flexible to cover weekday afternoons and evenings, plus weekend hours.

Hiring Range: Salary begins at $15.25/hour.

Circulation Clerk I

The Circulation Clerk I is responsible for a variety of general clerical proficiencies relative to the circulation of library materials. This includes library card registration, check in and checkout of materials, as well as answering phones, addressing inquiries, solve problems, perform shelf checks, and more. In addition, the Circulation Clerk I must demonstrate a positive attitude, and excel in customer service and communication in a fast paced environment.

Schedule: This position is 18 hrs. per week and includes evening and weekend hours.

Requirements: Applicants should have knowledge of personal computers, including e-mail and Windows based operations as well as automated circulation systems. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; library experience is preferred.

Hiring Range: $9.26-$10.59 hourly DOQ.

Readers Services Paraprofessional I

The Glenview Public Library has an opening for a part-time Paraprofessional I in the Reader Services Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting patrons in answering basic questions and locating materials, in person and over the phone; providing adults and high school teens with book, movie and music advisory service at the Reader Services and Audiovisual public service desks; instructing patrons in the use of downloadable materials and other library technologies such as the online catalog; and performing various reader’s advisory-related duties and collection work within the department.

Applicants should enjoy working with the public, be proficient in the use of technology, be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate familiarity with popular materials in a variety of formats. Excellence in customer service in patron and staff interactions as well as strong communication skills and an enthusiastic attitude are essential.

Schedule: Approximately 18 hours per week; schedule must be flexible, to include afternoons, evenings and a weekend rotation.

Requirements: BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university, or an LTA certificate and a minimum of one year relevant library experience, preferably in a public library setting.

Hiring Range: $14.51 - $16.58/hr. (DOQ)

Reference Paraprofessional I

The Glenview Public Library seeks a part-time Paraprofessional I in the Reference Services Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: helping patrons with informational and directional questions, in person and over the phone; instructing patrons in the use of the online databases and catalog; assisting with computer classes and collection work; various other tasks as assigned.

Applicants should enjoy working with the public, be proficient in the use of technology, be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate familiarity with a nonfiction collection. Excellence in customer service in patron and staff interactions and strong communication skills are required.

Requirements: BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year relevant library experience, preferably in a public library setting. LTA certificate preferred.

Schedule: Approximately 16/hours per week; must be flexible--mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekend rotation. Position available as of August 1, 2016.

Hiring Range: $14.51 - $16.58/hr. (DOQ)
