Youth Services, Paraprofessional II - Part-Time

The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Paraprofessional II in the Youth Services Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting children through grade eight and their caregivers with finding materials, instructing patrons in the use of the online catalog and computer resources, handling event registrations, filling displays, performing collection-related duties including selection and other tasks as assigned. Position responsibilities will also include working with Storytime programming.

Applicants should enjoy working with children and the public, be proficient in the use of technology and able to collaborate and work well within a team environment. Position requires excellence in communication and customer service interactions with both patrons and staff. The ideal candidate will be flexible, self-motivated and possess an enthusiastic attitude, as well as demonstrating familiarity with children’s literature and conducting storytime classes.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or an LTA certificate and a minimum of two years’ relevant library experience working with youth, preferably in a public library setting.

Schedule and Salary: Approximately 25 hours per week; must be flexible; days, evenings and a weekend rotation. Position includes some benefits.

Hiring Range: $20.15 to $22.67/hr. – DOQ

IT Services, Computer Aide – Part-Time

The Glenview Public Library is looking to hire part-time Computer Aides. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Acting as a first contact for assisting patrons and staff with technology issues;

• Performing basic care and maintenance of Library computer hardware;

• Assisting in staff and patron training as it relates to Library-provided equipment and services.

Position requires excellent communication, customer service, and computer support skills. The ideal candidate will possess a basic knowledge of technology equipment: Must be able to troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues to resolution. Must be able to collaborate and work well with others. Specific Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Required Skills are posted within the Business Office and are available upon request.

Technical Requirements: Must be familiar with a wide range of technology equipment including computers, wireless mobile devices, operating systems and applications. Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, and carry up to 25 pounds.

Schedule: A minimum of 14 hours per week; opportunities exist for candidates available to cover weekday afternoons, evening and weekend hours.

Hiring Range: Minimum $11.00/hour DOQ.

Reference Services, Paraprofessional II – Part-Time

The Glenview Public Library seeks a part-time Paraprofessional II in the Reference Services Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: helping patrons with informational and directional questions, in person and over the phone; instructing patrons in the use of the online databases and catalog system; teaching computer classes; and various duties within the department, which may include coordinating displays and selecting print materials in assigned area.

Applicants should enjoy working with the public, be proficient in the use of technology, be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate familiarity with a nonfiction collection. Excellence in customer service in patron and staff interactions and strong communication skills are required.

Requirements: BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university, and a minimum of two years related experience in a public library setting. LTA certificate also preferred.

Hours: Approximately 18/hours per week; must be flexible; mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekend rotation.

Salary: $20.15-22.67, DOQ.
