Technology Assistant

The IT Technology Assistant is responsible for deploying and supporting technology-related products within the Library, including the installation, configuration and support of hardware, and operating systems and application software on Library-owned public and staff computers; creating and maintaining user email and computer network accounts. This individual assists in supporting the Library VoIP phone system and related voicemail service; supports a variety of Library-provided audio-visual products in use by staff and patrons, diagnoses and resoles hardware and software issues, and provides technical support to end users.

Requirements: Position requires excellent communication, customer service, and computer support skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft programs and desktop operating systems, basic knowledge of server operating systems and Windows Domain Administration and a thorough understanding of workstations in a networked environment is required. Familiarity with Office 365, Google Apps and other cloud services in PC and mobile environments, plus Chrome, Mac and mobile operating systems.

Candidate must be able to read and write English and perform basic mathematical calculations, communicate and work harmoniously with others. Must be able to lift, bend, stoop and carry up to 50 lbs. and sit for extended periods of time while working at a computer.

Candidate must hold a High School Diploma or equivalent; Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification, or 2 years of documented employment in an IT support role with similar responsibilities is preferred.

Schedule: This is a part-time position for approximately 30 hours per week; must be flexible to cover weekday afternoons and evenings, plus weekend hours.

Hiring Range: Salary begins at $15.25/hour.

Shelver I
Circulation

Shelver I position is responsible for sorting and shelving all library materials as well as maintaining the orderliness of all library collections.

Schedule: This 18 hour per week position will includes including daytime, evening, and weekend hours

Hiring range: $8.55 - $9.71 hourly

Requirements: Applicants be fluent in oral and written English and must have a high school degree or meet minimum age for the State of IL.

Youth Services
Librarian I (Part-time)

The Glenview Public Library has an opening for a part-time Librarian I in the Youth Services Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting children through grade eight and their caregivers with reference, reader advisory, online catalog and computer resources. This position involves collection development and some programming responsibilities.

Applicants should enjoy working with children and the public, be proficient in the use of technology and able to collaborate and work well within a team environment. Position requires excellence in communication and customer service interactions with both patrons and staff. The ideal candidate will be flexible, self-motivated, possess an enthusiastic attitude and be knowledgeable about children’s literature.

Schedule: Approximately 25 hours per week; must be flexible to work days, evenings and weekend rotations.

Requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited institution. Experience working with youth in a public library setting preferred or relevant coursework as part of an MLS program.

Hiring Range: $21.12 – $24.13/hour (DOQ)

Youth Services
Paraprofessional I (Part-time)

The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Paraprofessional I in the Youth Services Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting children through grade eight and their caregivers with finding materials, handling program registrations, instructing patrons in the use of the online catalog and computer resources, filling displays, assisting with collection work and performing other tasks as assigned.

Applicants should enjoy working with children and the public, be proficient in the use of technology and able to collaborate and work well within a team environment. Position requires excellence in communication and customer service interactions with both patrons and staff. The ideal candidate will be flexible, self-motivated, possess an enthusiastic attitude and demonstrate familiarity with children's literature.

Schedule: Approximately 12 hours per week; schedule must be flexible to include evenings and a Friday night /Saturday weekend rotation.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or an LTA certificate and a minimum of one year relevant library experience working with youth, preferably in a public library setting.

Hiring Range: $14.51 to 16.58/hr. (DOQ)
