Reference Services Department
Paraprofessional I (Part-Time)

The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Paraprofessional I in the Reference Services Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: helping patrons with informational and directional questions, in person and over the phone; instructing patrons in the use of the online databases and catalog system; and various clerical duties within the department.

Applicants should enjoy working with the public, be proficient in the use of technology, be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate familiarity with a nonfiction collection. Excellence in customer service in patron and staff interactions and strong communication skills are required.

Requirements: BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university, or an LTA certificate and a minimum of one year relevant library experience, preferably in a public library setting.

Schedule: Approximately 15/hours per week; must be flexible, to include evenings and weekends.

Salary: Begins at $14.09/hour - DOQ.

Part-Time Security Monitor

The Glenview Public Library is looking for a part – time Security Monitor to maintain order, and ensure a safe environment for library patrons. Responsibilities include supervision of public areas (interior and exterior),etc. Assists staff in handling problems diplomatically and according to appropriate library procedures. May be responsible for securing the building and light maintenance, meeting room set-ups, etc.

Requirements: High school diploma required; some college and/or previous security experience preferred.

Schedule: Schedule includes 18 hours per week, to include late afternoon and evening as well as alternate weekend hours

Hiring Range: $12.11-$15.56/hour (DOQ).

Shelver I

The Shelver I position is responsible for sorting and shelving all library materials as well as maintaining the orderliness of all library collections.

Requirements: Applicants must be fluent in oral and written English and must have a high school degree or equivalent.

Schedule: Schedule includes 18 hours per week, to include late day, night, and weekend hours

Hiring Range: $8.31-$9.43/hour.

Reference Services Department
Librarian I (Part-Time)

The Glenview Public Library seeks a creative and enthusiastic individual for the Reference Services Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: providing reference and nonfiction reader’s advisory service to library patrons, selecting print materials in assigned area, instructing patrons on the use of library resources, teaching specialized computer classes, and other duties as assigned.

Applicants should enjoy working with the public, be proficient with online catalogs and computers, be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate familiarity with a nonfiction collection. Applicants should also be highly motivated, a self-starter, able to juggle several tasks simultaneously and thrive in a fast paced environment.

Candidates should possess excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to collaborate well with team members, and be proficient with current technologies.

Requirements: MLS from ALA-Accredited Institution. Experience working with a nonfiction collection in a public library setting a plus.

Schedule: Part-time position, 25.5 hours/week, including weekday, weekend and evening hours.
