Youth Services, Paraprofessional I (Part-time)

The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Paraprofessional I in the Youth Services Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting children through grade eight and their caregivers with finding materials, instructing patrons in the use of the online catalog and computer resources, handling event registrations and providing program support, filling displays, assisting with collection-related duties and performing other tasks as assigned.

Applicants should enjoy working with children and the public, be proficient in the use of technology and able to collaborate and work well within a team environment. Position requires excellence in communication and customer service interactions with both patrons and staff. The ideal candidate will be flexible, self-motivated, possess an enthusiastic attitude and demonstrate familiarity with children’s literature.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or an LTA certificate and a minimum of one year relevant library experience working with youth, preferably in a public library setting.

Schedule and Salary: Approximately 18 hours per week; schedule must be flexible to include days, evenings and a weekend rotation.

Hiring Range: $15.27 to $17.18/hr. - DOQ

IT Services – Computer Aide (Part Time)

The Glenview Public Library is looking to hire part-time Computer Aides. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Acting as a first contact for assisting patrons and staff with technology issues;

• Performing basic care and maintenance of Library computer hardware;

• Assisting in staff and patron training as it relates to Library-provided equipment and services.

Position requires excellent communication, customer service, and computer support skills. The ideal candidate will possess a basic knowledge of technology equipment: Must be able to troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues to resolution. Must be able to collaborate and work well with others. Specific Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Required Skills are posted within the Business Office and are available upon request.

Technical Requirements: Must be familiar with a wide range of technology equipment including computers, wireless mobile devices, operating systems and applications. Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, and carry up to 25 pounds.

Schedule: A minimum of 14 hours per week; opportunities exist for candidates available to cover weekday afternoons, evening and weekend hours.

Hiring Range: Minimum $11.00/hour DOQ.

Circulation, Team Leader

The Glenview Public Library seeks an enthusiastic and energetic individual for the Team Leader, Circulation position. This position is a 28 hour per week part time senior level clerk position and the candidate must be proficient and confident in performing all functions of the Circulation Department. The Team Leader works in depth with the inter-library loan process and consortium holds. A Team Leader also acts in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the Supervisor or the Department Head. Previous library experience necessary. This is a part-time position including daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Hiring range: $16.04 -$20.05 depending on qualifications.

A working knowledge of personal computers, including e-mail and Windows based operations, OCLC FirstSearch, Integrated Library Systems, Sirsi Dynix, as well as knowledge of other library applications relating to Circulation and interlibrary loan. Minimum High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree, Library Technical Assistant (LTA) certification, or minimum 2 years of clerical experience in a library or automated office setting.
