Behavior Policy

The Glenview Public Library seeks to provide its patrons with an atmosphere conducive to reading, research and the enjoyment of all Library services. While at the Library, please be courteous of others and observe the following guidelines:

  • Use of cellular phones is permitted only in the outer lobby or in the stairwell outside the Youth Services. Turn cell phone ringers to “off” or set to “vibrate.”

  • Appropriate use of electronic devices, as well as any other distraction, such as loud conversations, shall be guided by consideration and respect for other Library users.

  • Covered beverages are allowed in the Library, except at computer workstations, in the Computer Training Room, or other designated areas; food is prohibited in the Library except as provided at Library events.

  • Smoking is not permitted in the Library in accordance with Illinois Law (410 ILCS 82/15).

  • Children aged 7 and under must be accompanied and directly supervised by a responsible caregiver at all times.

  • Taking photographs, distributing leaflets, soliciting and/or petitioning on Library property require authorization from the Library Administration.
